When Love Comes Late Chapter: 2436

The weight of the decision pressed heavily on her. “This is too important to keep quiet. If I don’t tell him, he might blame me Later. But.. what if Stella isn’t ready for him to know?” she muttered to herself.

Lost in thought, Miley was startled at the sound of a familiar voice “Miley?”

She spun around, her heart skipping a beat as she recognized Cordell approaching.

She felt even more flustered, cursing inwardly.

Cordell’s sharp eyes flicked over her face, concern etched into his features. “What are you doing here?” he asked, his tone curious yet careful.

Before Miley could answer, Cordell’s gaze shifted, Landing on the sign above the department. His brows furrowed as a sudden realization struck.

Could Miley be pregnant?

Miley had no time to dwell on whatever might be running through Cordell’s mind. Her thoughts were completely preoccupied with Stella’s pregnancy.

She wasn’t sure how Stella truly felt about it, and with Cordell being Matthew’s friend, she couldn’t afford to let anything slip. If the secret got out, it would spell disaster.

Determined to divert Cordell’s attention, Miley put on a casual front and brushed him off with an excuse. “Oh, I’m just here with a friend. You go ahead and handle your business—don’t mind me.”

But Cordell wasn’t one to let things slide so easily. He pressed her further, his curiosity relentless. “A friend? What friend? Do I know her?”

Miley internally groaned but kept her composure, sidestepping his question yet again. “Just one of our company’s models. You don’t know her. It’s nothing important, really-you don’t need to help.”

She quickly added for good measure, “Cordell, you have to keep this a secret, alright? She’s a model, after all. If any rumors spread, it could ruin her career.”

Cordell considered her words for a moment before nodding. “Alright, I understand. Don’t worry-I won’t say a word.”

With that, he turned and left. Even as he walked away, a nagging sense of suspicion lingered. Something about the whole situation felt… off.

As soon as he left the department, Cordell made a quick call to Neville, recounting his unexpected encounter with Miley at the obstetrics and genecology department.

Meanwhile, Miley stood rooted in place, watching until Cordell’s figure disappeared into the distance. Only then did she allow herself to breathe a little easier.

The sound of a door opening drew her attention, and she turned to see a doctor stepping out of the examination room.

Miley hurried forward, anxiety etched across her face. “Doctor, how is Stella?”

The doctor met her concern with a reassuring look. “She experienced some fetal distress, but her condition is stable for now. That said, I recommend keeping her in the hospital for a few days under observation just to ensure everything settles down.”

Hearing this, Miley didn’t waste a moment. She sprang into action, rushing to arrange Stella’s hospitalization. She ran back and forth tirelessly until all the arrangements were made.

By the time Miley returned to the room, her forehead was damp with sweat.

Bursting in, she spoke in a rush, unable to contain her worry. “Stella, how did this happen? How did you end up pregnant? Should we tell your mom? Or Matthew? I don‘t know what to do!”

Stella Lay in the bed, her face pale and exhausted. She gently shook her head. “Please, Miley, keep this a secret for now. Don’t tell anyone.”
