Stella frowned, her mind a whirlwind of confusion.
She had barely gained consciousness when the police had bombarded her with questions. Learning about Robin’s death from them had hit her like a ton of bricks. If anything, she was more desperate than anyone else to uncover the truth.
“I swear I didn’t kill Robin, and I desperately want to know who did.”
Stella’s voice trembled with helplessness and confusion.
Matthew turned to Lindsay, his tone steady but firm. “Go home for now. Let’s wait for the results of the police investigation. Arguing here won’t help.”
His weary eyes carried a trace of fatigue and resignation, silently pleading for Lindsay to calm down.
Lindsay, however, was far from appeased. Her voice quivered with a mix of anger and pain as she demanded, “Is it because Stella is your wife? Are you ignoring the truth to protect your reputation and the company’s image? I broke my legs saving you, Matthew. I never asked for anything in return, but this one time, I want answers for my brother. Is that too much to ask?”
Matthew’s expression hardened, his authoritative gaze Locking onto her.
“Lindsay,” he said firmly, “I need you to go home and calm down. I promise I will investigate thoroughly and give you the explanation you deserve.”
His commanding tone left no room for argument.
But Lindsay wasn’t ready to back down. Her sharp voice cut through the tension. “Matthew, you can’t be so partial! She’s clearly the murderer. You can’t just ignore Robin’s death because she’s your wife!”
Her fiery gaze and defiant posture radiated stubborn determination.
Matthew, however, wasn’t swayed. As Fernando reappeared, Matthew immediately issued a directive. “Fernando, take Lindsay home.”
His unwavering gaze left no room for debate, his resolve unshaken.
Fernando stepped forward without hesitation, gently pushing Lindsay’s wheelchair.
Even as she was being taken away, Lindsay’s voice echoed down the corridor, fierce and unrelenting. “Even with the Clark family shielding Stella, I won’t let the truth be buried. She’s the murderer, and I will seek justice for Robin!”
Her words, filled with resolve, hung in the air Long after her departure.
Fernando pushed her away, his expression a mix of resignation and concern. Lindsay’s mind, however, was set on one thing: convicting Stella before the situation grew even more entangled.
As Lindsay looked up, she spotted a man rushing toward Stella’s ward.
Fernando swiftly blocked his approach
“How is Stella?” Sanford asked urgently, his eyes filled with worry and his face etched with anxiety.
Fernando quickly replied, “She’s fine, Mr. Quimby, but it’s not appropriate for you to go in right now.”
Hearing this, Sanford immediately guessed that Matthew was in the ward.
At that moment, any thoughts of rivalry with Matthew faded from his mind.
