Stella stood her ground and said bluntly, “The Clarks are responsible for Lindsay, not the whole Wheeler family. Deep down, you know whether Lindsay means family to you or just a cash cow. Pay up! Or you’re not walking out that door.”
Robin opened his mouth to argue, but Dexter intervened, placing a firm hand on his shoulder.
With a stern look, Dexter warned, “You need to treat that injury right away, or you might end up losing your arm.”
Taken aback by Dexter’s words, Robin quickly had someone beside him give Stella the money.
After taking the money, Stella threw a few bills on the table to cover Robin’s medical bills. Before she left, she shot a piercing look at Robin and said coldly, “An eye for an eye. If you’re Looking to lose the other arm, keep crashing into my car.”
With that, she turned and left the room with Dexter.
Robin’s face flushed with anger. “What are you all gawking at? Take me to the hospital, now!”
His friends cautiously helped him out, and as they entered the lobby, they saw the club’s manager hurrying toward them with a group of staff.
Robin was clearly displeased with the manager’s slow response as he threatened sharply, “This isn’t the end of it. Once I’m healed, you and I are going to settle this.”
The manager, drenched in sweat, watched as Robin and his friends left.
He had intended to intervene and stop the escalating conflict, but was held back.
With a resigned sigh, he looked back toward a corner. Sanford stood against the light, his figure slightly blurred.
Sanford turned slightly and then walked off.
When Stella and Dexter came out of the club, Stella walked toward her car and asked, “What’s the status of the investigation on the warehouse fire?”
Dexter frowned slightly and responded, “We haven’t found the culprit yet.”
He then asked, “Has Doreen received your approval to join the investigation?”
Stella nodded. “Yes. She’s been feeling guilty. Please, give her a chance to help. She’s quite skilled.”
It looked Like Dexter wanted to say something but he struggled to find the right word. So, he just managed to say, “Alright, I understand.”
They went their separate ways at the parking lot. Stella drove off, while Dexter returned to his car.
Just then, the back door opened and Sanford entered and sat down.
Sanford turned to Dexter and asked, “What exactly happened with Robin and Stella?”
Dexter laid out the entire incident for Sanford. Listening to the account, Sanford scoffed, clearly filled with scorn for Robin’s behavior.
Meanwhile, Sanford noticed that the tension between Matthew and Stella had softened. This changed dynamic could complicate matters for him.
He leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes, carefully pondering his next strategic move.
