Eventually, one employee remembered to call Stella and quickly dialed her number. “Mrs. Clark, we offer our deepest apologies. We did not expect something Like this to happen,” he said after explaining what had occurred.
Stella was still at the hospital, waiting for Clint’s medical examination results. She Listened to the report from the employee, her jaw clenching as fury burned inside her.
Even so, she maintained her composure. “Have the car driven back to the dealership. I will handle the rest,” she said.
The employee was immensely relieved by her understanding. “Thank you so much,” he said gratefully, thanking her one more time.
Stella didn’t respond further and ended the call.
When Clint emerged from the examination room, he immediately noticed the tense expression on her face. “What’s wrong?” he asked with concern.
“Did something happen?”
Stella shook her head. She didn’t want to worry her grandfather. She could handle this on her own. “Just some complicated work issues,” she assured him. “It’s nothing to worry about.”
She then turned to the nurse. “How did my grandfather’s examination go?”
“The full examination results will be available this afternoon,” the nurse informed her.
Stella nodded and helped Clint back to his hospital room.
That afternoon, the doctor and the nurse arrived with the test results in hand. “The patient has a mild concussion,“ the doctor reported. “We will need to keep him in the hospital for a few more days to observe his condition.”
“Thank you, doctor,” Stella said.
The doctor nodded. “You’re welcome. These arrangements were all made by Matthew.”
Stella blinked in surprise but nodded and escorted the doctor out of the room.
When she returned, Clint was waiting for her. He didn’t want to delay her from her urgent work matters. “Stella, you should head back to the office. I’ll be fine here,” he assured her. “The doctor said I only need to be monitored, so my condition isn’t that serious. Besides, the butler will be here to look after me in the meantime.”
“ALL right, Grandpa,” Stella said, already mentally strategizing ways to handle the issue with Robin. “I’ll come back Later, okay?”
With that, she left the hospital, not forgetting to message Dexter to track down Robin’s location.
Dexter wasted no time sending Stella the address of the club where Robin was holding court. He then asked, “Do you need me there?”
Stella hesitated, images of Robin’s smug arrogance flashing through her mind. The thought of a confrontation turning physical made her stomach turn.
After a brief pause, she said firmly, “Yes, come over.”
Dexter’s presence would give her the backup she might need.
Once off the phone, Dexter quickly relayed the details of Stella’s predicament to Sanford.
Sanford’s face hardened with concern. As he reached for his coat, he gave his orders. “Go with Stella and protect her.”
