A moment later, Doreen mentioned, “I just ran into Mr. Clark in the hallway.”
Stella paused, her expression unreadable. “Lindsay has her rehabilitation session today,” she stated calmly.
Realizing her blunder, Doreen bit her Lip and fell silent.
She watched as Stella dug through her bag for something and realized she had forgotten to hand over a pen. She hurriedly grabbed a pen from her bag and placed it in Stella’s hand. “I just remembered I hadn’t given you a pen.”
Stella took the pen, murmuring, “I’ve misplaced my pen. Would you mind checking at the office later to see if I left it on my desk? It’s a fountain pen with my name on it.”
Doreen nodded eagerly. “Of course, I’ll search for it as soon as I return.”
Wasting no time, Stella handled the documents and asked, “How are we doing with the orders after the Launch event?”
Doreen responded with optimism, “Everything’s proceeding well, and Sanford has sent over some extra fabrics. I’ll be extra careful with them this time.”
Stella gave a nod of approval. “Excellent, just make sure they’re well looked after.”
Doreen, feigning casual interest while her curiosity about Dexter simmered, casually brought up the warehouse fire investigation with Stella. “Have there been any developments in the warehouse fire investigation?”
“It’s a complex case, but Dexter is still on it,” Stella answered.
Seizing the moment, Doreen asked if she could contribute. Avoiding Stella’s scrutinizing look, she admitted, “I’m really sorry for the lapse that nearly cost us so much. As a way to make amends, I’d like to help with the investigation.”
Understanding her intent, Stella’s expression softened, and she agreed.
“Alright, I’ll get in touch with Dexter and see if you can assist him”
A nurse dashed toward the entrance of Clint’s hospital room, her tone brisk and professional as she announced, “The time has come for the patient’s check-up.”
Upon the nurse’s interruption, Stella swiftly turned to Doreen, her voice tinged with urgency. “Could you please take these documents back to the studio? It’s essential that I stay here to assist Grandpa during his check-up.”
Doreen acknowledged with a firm nod, her hands deftly gathering the scattered documents. Doreen had just wrapped up and was preparing to leave for the studio when Stella suddenly recalled the incident at the store entrance from yesterday.
“Oh, Doreen, would you mind stopping by the store on your way? I might have Left my pen there when I dropped my bag at the entrance yesterday. Perhaps check the security cameras to see if it was picked up?” Stella directed calmly.
“Absolutely, I’ll inspect the area thoroughly,” Doreen assured, her tone reassuring.
She walked out of the hospital, Leaving Stella to return to the room and accompany Clint to his check-up.
At the same time, Matthew and Fernando made their way to the hospital where Ronan was treating Lindsay.
During the drive, Fernando filled Matthew in with a cautious tone. “The Wheeler family has returned, yet Robin remains.”
With a faint nod, Matthew acknowledged the statement but chose to stay silent.
As they pulled up to the hospital, Lindsay’s bodyguard arrived at almost the same moment.
