Robin’s reply was laid-back but calculated. “Just here to see how you’re holding up.”
Lindsay’s response was a cold snort, her patience thinning. “Cut the charm. What do you really want?”
Without hesitation, Robin got to the heart of the matter. “Ran into Stella at the dealership today. She was quite the queen bee.”
The mere mention of Stella fueled Lindsay’s growing turmoil.
She was still wrestling with how to remove Stella from the picture without dirtying her own hands.
Lindsay’s face soured further, her silence stretching into discomfort.
Robin, brimming with scorn for Stella, couldn’t hold back. “Who does she think she is? She even dared to threaten me.”
Lindsay’s thoughts were elsewhere; she wasn’t concerned with Robin’s troubles with Stella. She had begged Matthew to help Robin merely as a way to provoke Stella; his fate beyond that held little interest for her.
Noticing Lindsay’s detachment, Robin prodded. “Are you even listening?”
Lindsay’s response was terse. “Yes, I heard you. You clashed with Stella. But she’s still Matthew’s wife. What do you expect me to do?”
Robin scoffed at her. “You’re clueless! You couldn’t defeat Stella even after sacrificing your ability to walk. But I understand; with your disability, you can’t even share Matthew’s bed.”
Lindsay’s temper flared, her gaze sharpening. “Whose side are you on, anyway? If you’re just here to taunt me, you can leave.”
Robin stood, his grin audacious. “Honestly, if there weren’t some perks from Matthew in it for me, I wouldn’t bother wasting my time on a loser like you.”
He grabbed his car keys, signaling his departure.
Before exiting, he threw in a demand. “I need another million from you. Got to spruce up my car.”
As he left, Lindsay’s fists clenched in fury, her disdain for Robin reaching a boiling point.
Her mind raced over the image of Robin’s modified car, and suddenly, a cunning plan-capable of dealing with both Robin and Stella-began to crystallize.
Stella returned to the studio and, upon opening the door, was surprised to see a familiar figure.
Her expression showed clear surprise, as his presence was unexpected.
Declan greeted her with a warm, friendly smile, his voice tinged with a hint of regret. “I hope my sudden visit isn’t a bother.”
Stella quickly shook her head and responded with a smile, “Not at all, sir. Please, come in.”
She ushered Declan into the office, her thoughts buzzing with curiosity about his unexpected appearance.
Once they were settled, Stella offered him a glass of water and asked, “Sir, what brings you here today?”
Declan exhaled softly and answered, “I’m here to apologize for the events of last night. I realize Sanford made a mistake. I hadn’t yet thanked you for your assistance when he unfortunately clashed with your husband. I sincerely ask for your forgiveness on Sanford’s behalf.”
