When Love Comes Late Chapter: 2323

Matthew quickly approached Lindsay, and upon spotting him, she enveloped him in a tight embrace. Tears streaming down her face, she cried out, “Matthew, it’s hopeless. The doctor’s verdict on my Legs…”

Just as she spoke, Stella emerged from the elevator, catching a poignant scene: Matthew tenderly consoling Lindsay with a gentle touch on her shoulder.

Frozen in her tracks, Stella’s heart lurched, anchoring her to the floor, unable to move forward or retreat.

Fernando noticed Stella’s sudden appearance. A grim realization washed over him-there was no simple explanation for this moment.

Compelled by the gravity of the situation yet wishing to flee, Stella initially thought to turn back, to escape the sorrow before her.

However, as Matthew’s gaze met hers, time seemed to stand still, locking her in place.

After a heartbeat’s pause, she approached with a composed facade, stating, “I came to check on Lindsay’s test results.”

Lindsay’s grip on Matthew tightened as she heard Stella’s approach, her arms constricting around him with a desperate intensity.

Gently but firmly, Matthew eased Lindsay’s arms from around his waist.

A tumult of reluctance surged through Lindsay, her act barely concealing the sobs she choked back. She managed to utter, “Dr. Watts says it’s futile. My legs… I’ll never walk again. I feel utterly powerless.”

Stella’s emotions swirled chaotically upon hearing this declaration.

She took in Lindsay’s shattered demeanor, a storm of empathy and distress brewing within her.

Matthew’s expression darkened with concern as he clasped Lindsay’s trembling hands. “Lindsay, please, settle down. Don’t lose heart. We’re not at the end of our rope yet.” He soothed her, his voice a blend of resolve and reassurance.

Lindsay’s voice cracked under the weight of her despair. “My life is in ruins. What’s the point of going on Like this? I’m nothing but a burden now. Maybe it would be better if I just… disappeared.”

Despair flickered in her eyes; her hair tousled, casting a shadow over her forlorn and wretched appearance.

Matthew’s features twisted in pain as he listened to her despair. He reached out, his tone firm yet tender. “No, Lindsay, don’t think such thoughts. Even if a cure for your legs seems out of reach, remember, I’m here for you. Always.”

From the sidelines, Stella’s heart felt like it was being compressed under a leaden weight, making her chest tight with discomfort.

Powerless-that was how Stella felt, especially knowing that Lindsay had been crippled while saving Matthew. Her words stuck in her throat, unspoken.

Gradually, under Matthew’s soothing litany, Lindsay’s turmoil began to ebb. She looked up at him, her eyes glistening with nascent hope.

“Matthew, could you… would you really stay by my side forever?”

Silence enveloped Matthew as he grappled internally with his feelings torn between his duty to Lindsay and the tangled web of his marital life.

The pause was enough for Lindsay to sense his hesitation. A glimmer of disappointment washed over her face, and she averted her gaze, her voice breaking as she surrendered to her bleak outlook. “Forget it, Matthew. You’ve got your own life, and you’ll have children in the future. Me? I’m just an anchor, dragging you down. Maybe it’s better to end things while I still have some dignity left, to save everyone the trouble.”

Matthew’s response was immediate, his resolve unwavering. “Don’t even think it! If Dr. Watts can’t help, we’ll search for another specialist abroad. There’s got to be a treatment out there that can give you back your Life. We won’t give up, not now, not ever.”

Stella hadn’t anticipated that Matthew would genuinely act on what Lindsay had told her that morning. If Lindsay remained like this for the rest of her life, requiring Matthew’s constant care, what purpose would her own presence serve in their lives? Was she really going to divorce Matthew? These thoughts swirled relentlessly in Stella’s mind, trapping her in a storm of uncertainty.
