Sensing something unusual in her tone, Stella pressed, “What’s wrong? You sound sad.”
Doreen quickly Lied, “Maybe I caught a little cold. My nose is stuffy.”
Stella expressed her concern for a few moments before ending the call.
Meanwhile, Lindsay had been busy gathering information on everyone close to Stella.
Her attention Landed on Miley and Doreen, Stella’s closest companions.
Having witnessed Miley’s unwavering loyalty to Stella firsthand, Lindsay decided to focus on Doreen instead.
After digging into Doreen’s family background, Lindsay hatched a plan.
She immediately picked up her phone and made a call.
“Take Doreen’s father to a casino or a game night. Let him win a few games to get him hooked. You know what to do after that, right?”
“Understood.”
Hanging up, Lindsay smirked coldly. She was confident that, when the time came, Doreen would have no choice but to betray Stella.
Clint had spent three days in the hospital and had finally received the doctor’s approval to be discharged.
Stella and Matthew personally escorted Clint home, carefully attending to him along the way.
Once they arrived, they busied themselves ensuring Clint was settled in, making him as comfortable as possible. Only after everything was perfectly arranged did Stella and Matthew prepare to Leave.
As Stella stepped out of the house, her face returned to its usual composed and serene expression. Her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of the studio, and she planned to have Doreen pick her up for work.
However, Matthew insisted on driving her himself, guiding her into the back seat of the car.
Throughout the drive, Stella remained silent. Matthew had been by her side at the hospital over the past few days. Apart from their earlier argument, he had behaved impeccably, showing her kindness and attentiveness.
Yet, Stella couldn’t shake the feeling that something Lingered between them. Perhaps it was the gap created by Matthew’s missing memories and his recent behavior that made it difficult for her to truly connect with him.
Breaking the silence, Matthew spoke. “Let’s have dinner together tonight.”
Stella’s response was neutral. “I haven’t been to the studio in days. I probably have a pile of work waiting for me. I’m not sure I’ll be able to leave on time.”
Matthew pressed his lips together, understanding her busy schedule but clearly hoping to spend more time with her.
Soon, the car pulled up in front of the studio. Stella quickly said goodbye and stepped out, her thoughts already shifting to the tasks ahead.
Stella spent the entire day engrossed in orders and designing dresses.
By the time she wrapped up, night had already fallen.
